Hiring! PlainClarity seeks a qualified Public Relations Account Director

PlainClarity, a respected boutique public relations firm in Coastal San Diego, Calif., seeks an account director. With a delicious roster of culinary, hospitality, beauty and wellness and tech clients, the firm uses clear and powerful communication to creatively give voice to its clients’ stories, depending their impact. You are...

A fantastic writer with relentless tenacity who is confident, organized, abundantly detail-oriented, witty, intelligent and trustworthy with a strong work ethic. You are resourceful and committed. You do well, nay thrive, under pressure. Your research skills are exceptional; you know how to find trends and secure stories with local and national press. You enjoy working in an autonomous environment and consider yourself extremely creative. The tactics you employ could be considered vanguard. You’re confident in your abilities. You’re a strategist through and through and have a successful track record launching creative campaigns and securing editorial placements, managing events and leading a team.

You are able to manage accounts and people with great finesse, provide high-level client support and strategic counsel and take care of our valued clients, who we treat like family, sans the drama.

Extra points for a wicked sense of humor. You’re self-confident, but your hubris is under control.

You have at least seven years of agency experience and positive relationships with San Diego and national press.

Some of the things you’ll be doing...

  • Demonstrating your fabulousness, because you are — fabulous, that is.
  • Driving business with minimal supervision, but significant support.
  • Providing team and client leadership.
  • Recommending and implementing initiatives that improve the public’s perception of clients.
  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with press, bloggers and key influencers.
  • Writing interesting and effective press materials (mostly pitches, sometimes press releases).
  • Researching and maintaining awareness of national trends in multiple fields.
  • Evaluating advertising and promotional programs for compatibility with public relations efforts and client brands.
  • Participating in new business development and supporting organizational initiatives.
